The Mi A1 gets this week the Android 9 Pie stable upgrade, according to different users. While Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the launch, some Mi A1 owners around the world, including India, have informed the update of the stable cake on social media channels such as Twitter and Reddit. The Mi A1 is the first Android One smartphone from Xiaomi launched in 2017.
The Android Pie update was previously available in beta for Mi A1 users. Some users said they received the update earlier this month, but it seems that this week will see a larger rollout. Based on screenshots posted by Mi A1 users, the stable update of Android 9 Pie has a size of about 1 GB, with features such as FM radio and pie-based features like Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, app actions and new navigation gestures . This can be a gradual rollout. Therefore, Mi A1 users should manually check the settings to see if the update has reached their device.
The Mi A1 was introduced in September 2017 with the current Android 7.1.2 Nougat stock. The phone received the Oreo update in early 2018. With the launch of Android Pie, the Mi A1 has received two major Android updates, which means the phone may not receive Android Q in the future. The Mi A2, on the other hand, started with Oreo and has already received the update of the cake. It is expected that the Mi A2 will be updated to Android Q next year, as well as the Poco F1.
The Mi A1 has been a popular device for fans since its introduction, offering a combination of good hardware and Google’s clean and lightweight Android One software, making it an attractive and affordable option. Mi A1 features a 5.5-inch FHD display with a standard aspect ratio of 16: 9 and capacitive navigation buttons. It will be interesting to see how the new Pie based Gesture Navigation works on a device with navigation buttons on the device. Some Mi A1 users have reported that the capacitive buttons are disabled when gesture navigation is enabled.
